Laser Hair Removal: Five Myths We Hear Every Week
Dr. Sanila Sial · April 30, 2026 · 7 min read
Myth 1 — Laser only works on light skin
Modern diode and Nd:YAG platforms are safe and effective across the full Fitzpatrick range, including the skin tones most common in Pakistan.
Myth 2 — One session is enough
Hair grows in cycles. Six to eight sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, gives the best long-term reduction. Touch-ups once or twice a year keep results stable.
Myth 3 — It's painful
Today's machines use contact cooling that makes the sensation closer to a warm rubber band snap than the older descriptions you'll find online.
Myth 4 — You can't shave between sessions
You should — waxing or plucking removes the follicle that the laser needs to target. Shave the morning of your session.
Myth 5 — Results are permanent in one go
Laser hair removal causes permanent reduction, not total permanent removal. Hormonal changes can stimulate dormant follicles, which is why maintenance matters.
